Hi there,

i tried to use plugger to play embedded .sid files
with xmms and your plugin.
it did not work, problem seems to be the
xmm-sid plugin:
even from commandline it will not play:

xmms http://www.transbyte.org/SID/Last_Ninja.sid

is it a bug in the plugin or did i have to give xmms something
on the way to handle the file correct?

It's not a "bug" anywhere. XMMS does not have any kind of transport plugin system, so basically if one wants to support http/smb/anything, you have to implement it in the input plugin itself. This is the way mpg123 and vorbis plugins support http. Yes, it is stupid, but XMMS1 is not being developed anymore (feature wise, bugfixes are still being made occasionally), so nobody is going to change that.

I have absolutely no plans of supporting http in XMMS-SID. If you want this functionality, you could try switching to Audacious, which is a somewhat similar player to XMMS, but supports different transports and there is a "port" of XMMS-SID for it called Audacious-SID, also developed by yours truly.

However, Audacious is not a clone of XMMS, so there are many differences which you may or may not like.
